Moving Out

After a month of sadly imagining myself living in all the places I saw during my walks around town, and of some sleepless nights, last week I found a new room in Göttingen. I'll be moving there in January, so now, two days before my departure back to Barcelona for the Holidays, it feels like a chapter in my Göttingen life is coming to an end.
I'm leaving my cozy room and my beloved Mauerstrasse, but at the same time I can't hide my excitement for my new home.
For now it's packing time!

December so far

Some December moments: the Christmas party in Göttingen, places which have seen better days in Hannover, the beautiful Christmas market in Göttingen, a clear morning in Hannover, and the three last ones were all taken in Bremen.

Das Viertel, Bremen

My first visit to Bremen was being slightly dissapointing untill I reached das Viertel, the "alternative" area of town, with all the multicultural shops and restaurants, the bio and eco obsession everywhere, and rows of beautiful different little townhouses, and its interiors, to feast my eyes. The day ended with a beautiful sunset, which made the walk ever more charming.

Brunch at Loretta's, Hannover

Love Happens. And this was love at first sight.
Two weeks ago, while walking around  Maschpark I spotted a beautiful 50's original pavillion next to the road, and immediately rushed to see what it was. To my content, it was a cute restaurant, but the lack of time didn't allow me to investigate more on site. Then, back at home, I read the menu, which brought to constant day-dreaming for over two weeks. Finnally, this past Sunday, we had brunch at Loretta's. And it was perfect.

We all had the big Loretta's frühstück, oh and that is one thing I have to thank germans for, they don't use the word Brunch, as their word for breakfast (Frühstück), when used in the weekend, implies a long and copious meal. This meant, 3 different types of bread, croissants, butter, marmalade, scrambled eggs made with truffel butter, cheese, ham, salmon and the beautiful combination of buffala mozarella with sun-dried tomatos and fresh pesto. All in the right amount, and with a simplicity of flavours that I really valued. And to wash it down, some orange juice and a glass of Prosecco. The price, 10€, and I'm not joking.
All of the above was enjoyed in a lovely atmosphere, created by the beautifuly cozy decoration, the reduced and intimate proportions of the place, and the fact that it was snowing outside.

All I can add is, simplicity can be truly heartwarming.

a windy morning walk

If there's one thing I never hesitate about is how much I like Göttingen. Every now and then I go for a short walk, preferably up north and into the wall, to remind me how lucky I'm to be calling this home for now. It always feels like it's the first time I've ever walked on those streets, yet it never fails to amaze me how familiar everything is.
